WOW.

the show WENT OFF on saturday! no lie. things got off to sort of a slow start, not many people showed up on time, but I suppose that was to be expected. around 5:30 bedros and klaus and friends appeared in my front yard, baring gifts of steamed vegetables apparently prepared by bedros' mum. it ruled. everyone was chillin' when more kids started arriving, kids I'd never met before, HOW EXCITING! that's what I love about this community; music (specifically punk rock in this instance) destroys all borders that would otherwise prevent things like that from happening. but trust is granted to total strangers, so much so that we allow them to wander into our backyards. it's a beautiful thing. this community gives me hope for humanity. around six, jessie and colton showed up to play their set, by now there were about 30 or so kids hanging around. everyone took their seats on the lawn to focus on what turned out to be an AWESOME couple of sets.
everyone was enjoying listening to them while nomin' on the delicious vegan food provided by those who brought dishes (bedros, alex & ashley, ian, nicki and a buncha others). jessie and colton's set ended around seven and by then sheeeep had finished setting up and began to play. the only adjectives I can use to describe them is weird and fucking rad.
after sheeeep came burn idols, who fucking ripped it up, as usual.
I took the liberty of climbing on my roof and shooting a couple of videos of their set, so ya'll could experience it.

by the time burn idols finished up, about 40 or so more kids were milling around my backyard, probably more people than have ever been back there. next up was a nation sleeps. before their set I explained why we were having the show (see next video). ANS played and got an awessssooome response from everyone in the crowd, so stoked about that :D

ANS split a set with the kingsford run, who's intrepid journey from cimi valley out to my house definitely didn't get the recognition it deserved. I mean, that's FUCKING FAR! and for them to do that just to play a couple of songs! I mean wow! such rad dudes. I <3 'em.

all we know played next and they were received extremely well, which they more than deserve. they work soo soo hard and don't receive allot in return for it. I love you guys <3 the only thing that went wrong during their set was me getting elbowed in the face, which resulted in a deeeep gash in the crease of my nose. at least I'll have a souvenir to remember my show by.

after all we know was amongst wolves (more rad dudes) who split a set with offtrack (even more rad dudes) at the last minute. both bands kicked out the jams. it was tiiiiiiight.

badmouth finished up the bands playing on the grass and, as always, they smashed. you guys ruleeeeeeeEeeeEeeeEeEeEeE

after running around like a chicken with it's head cut off, trying to move the damn P.A. (thanks by the way, santino!) up to the patio, creatures started their set behind my garage. (I'm still looking for photos of this, please lemme know if you have any) it rullllled.

FINALLLLLLLY, rotting out set up and after a great deal of suspense, dedicated their set to chris (aptly dressed in LeBron James nike dunks, brown dickies shorts and an american flag) and began to play. needless to say SHIT WENT OFFFFFF. it was too much fun. they played a couple of new songs off of their 7" Vandalized and all the old ones. ending their set, they played you're done letting chris take the mic. chris was lovin' life at this point. after being threatened with having the cops called, we got the OK for them to play one more song, which turned out to be a cover of minor threat. a great way to end the night.

that night ruled. too much fun was had.

OH! I almost completely forgot to mention! the show marked the release of issue numero 5 of the zine. check the myspace for more deets. :]

p.s. thanks to evan, nicki and melissa for their photos !
